Waitress Playhouse Theatre Edinburgh 12th May 2026
The starring role of Jenna is a demanding one to perform as she is the focus point of nearly everything in this story. This means that whether delivering dramatic dialogue or singing, Jenna is rarely off centre stage from start to finish here. Carrie Hope Fletcher simply owned this stage tonight, with equally impressive dramatic and vocal performances. Sandra Marvin (Becky) and Evelyn Hoskins (Dawn) also made the most of their spotlight moments here. ***** FULL REVIEW |

SCO Schumann Cello Concerto Queen's Hall Edinburgh 7th May
SCO Schumann Cello Concerto at the Queen's Hall Edinburgh tonight was a treat for any fans of the cello as there was not one, but two solo performances from SCO's principal cellist, Philip Higham. Note Star Rating System is not used on SCO performances FULL REVIEW |

The Kinks Sunny Afternoon Playhouse Theatre Edinburgh 5th May
The songs from this show are a cross section of the band’s back-catalogue and whilst songs such as "Dedicated Follower of Fashion" and "A Well Respected Man" definitely, to me, belong in its original time period, others such as "You Really Got Me", "Dead End Street", "Stop Your Sobbing", "Sunny Afternoon" and "Lola" are simply timeless. Let’s not forget of course, one of the most perfect songs ever written, "Waterloo Sunset". ***** FULL REVIEW |

Cowboy Junkies Queen's Hall Edinburgh 3rd May
One highlight for many people in this audience was obviously the opening song of the second set, The Cowboy Junkies’ performance of The Velvet Underground's classic "Sweet Jane". For myself, I always have a liking for acoustic sets, they strip back a song to its building blocks and let you see all the fine details, so a three song acoustic set was one of tonight's musical highlights for me. Note Star Rating System is not used on most live music performances. FULL REVIEW |

The Ballad of Johnny and June Festival Theatre Edinburgh 28th April
One very late in his life hit for Johnny Cash was his 2002 recording of the Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt". Written by Trent Reznor, "Hurt" was on the 1994 album "Downward Spiral" and released as a promotional single in 1995. Trent Reznor has been quoted as saying that this song "is not his anymore" and its use in this show is poignant. **** FULL REVIEW |
